AI-supported reflection chat: Citizens can formulate and reflect on their concerns at any time via a chatbot. The AI uses empathy, questions and summaries to help them work out the core issue and deal with frustration. This support ensures that concerns are formulated clearly and precisely, minimizing misunderstandings and inefficient communication channels and avoiding further frustration. This is helpful both for networking between citizens and for possible cooperation with the administration.

The chatbot can embody different characters and thus bring fun to the conversation and appeal to diverse target groups such as young people.





Citizen networking: Citizens with similar concerns have the opportunity to organize meetings with each other via the platform to discuss joint action or, for example, to start an initiative. These meetings can take place as part of the district conferences or in other community centers, which provides a familiar and safe setting. The face-to-face meetings can also involve citizens who cannot or do not want to use the app. Politicians or employees of the city administration can attend the meetings and thus come into direct contact with committed citizens.





Summary and prioritization of frequent concerns: The AI analyzes incoming concerns and summarizes similar topics. This bundling enables the city administration to address the most frequent concerns in a targeted and efficient manner. In addition, city employees have the opportunity to enter information into the platform, e.g. about measures already planned, so that the chatbot can inform users directly.

The Brückenwelten software is an innovative platform that facilitates exchange and networking between people. People and topics are brought together - for networking, knowledge sharing and collaboration. It was developed to make events such as meetings, workshops and large group events more efficient and sustainable. With AI-supported reflection and documentation, the tool ensures sustainable exchange and effective safeguarding of results, making the preparation, organization and follow-up of meetings considerably easier. The solution has already been successfully tested in projects such as the "Frankenberger Lebensbücher" for neighborhood networking and in topic-related networking events in cooperation with the vhs Aachen and the OecherLab. The proof of concept has been completed and the software is currently being scaled up and brought to market maturity.





With its modular approach, Brückenwelten allows specific functions and areas of application to be added. This forms the basis for the idea that will be submitted to the Smart City Aachen competition: A new module that revolutionizes the reflection and processing of citizens' concerns and connects citizens* with each other, as well as with administration and politics.

Current generative language models (Large Language Models, LLM) are well suited to summarizing texts and formulating questions for reflection. Their strengths therefore lie in helping people to better understand and communicate their own concerns. The Brückenwelten software and the proposed extension build on these strengths.





Problem solving, accurate knowledge representation and decision making, on the other hand, are error-prone in current LLMs. With Brückenwelten, these processes are deliberately performed by humans, supported by traditional software.
