Energy Transition Monitoring

The energy turnaround is moving forward: You hear information on the evening news, read about it in the newspaper or see a new wind farm being built from the highway. However, most of the information is not related to the Euregio, but reports from the entire federal territory. We want to soften this and present current data of the energy turnaround in a bite-sized way in real time in order to familiarize the citizens of Aachen with the current status.

In the coming semester, the Energie Forum Aachen (EFA) will program a website that relates everyday situations to the energy transition in real time. This will be done by accessing an external database that will give us data such as the share of renewables in the electricity mix or the share of purchased electricity. Potential partners have already been identified and we will contact them in early October. The external data will be processed into tangible information. One example is the amount of green electricity used by the train from Cologne to Aachen at 2 pm. Monitoring the current situation is intended to create an understanding among the population for the energy transition in order to increase acceptance and support.
