Companies of all industries and sizes from the Aachen region can apply for the "Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce Sustainability Award" with completed and currently ongoing projects and products until August 1, 2025. We are looking for innovative projects and products that drive the transformation toward greater sustainability in the economy. "After the successful first Sustainability Award two years ago with over 30 applications, we want to offer the award again in 2025 – as part of the European Sustainability Week," says Michael F. Bayer, who is looking forward to the companies' applications. The necessary transformation process to a sustainable economy is being ambitiously addressed by many companies in the Aachen region. To support other companies in their transformation and advance the topic of sustainability, the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce – the first chamber in North Rhine-Westphalia to do so – awarded a "Sustainability Award" for corporate projects in September. The importance of sustainability in business is becoming increasingly important. More and more consumers are paying attention to the sustainability of products and services and preferring companies that are committed to environmental protection and social responsibility. The regional sustainability award in the Aachen region is intended to address precisely this issue. It is aimed at companies of all industries and sizes that are based in the region and are particularly committed to sustainability and environmental protection. Why a prize for "Sustainable Business"? The aim of the award is to recognize good examples from companies in the region and to support them in their transformation to a sustainable economy. Which projects are eligible for the competition? The awards are given to products and projects from companies that contribute to a more sustainable form of business and, as "best practices," once again demonstrate the innovative strength of the Aachen technology region: "Whether these are innovative products, projects on energy efficiency, the circular economy, corporate social responsibility, or exemplary sustainability reporting and a sustainability culture within the company," explains Michael F. Bayer, Managing Director of the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Receiving the regional sustainability award can be a great opportunity for companies to improve their business practices and position themselves as pioneers in sustainability. The Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce's Sustainability Award is a free competition open to companies from all sectors. Submitted projects undergo a two-stage jury process, with a panel of academics and industry experts evaluating them.
