The ITA is researching the production and processing of polymer optical fibers for textile-integrated lighting, e.g. for automotive interiors or smart textiles. Previous optical fibers from data transmission are overengineered from an optical point of view and their high price hinders the mass suitability of previous fiber optic lighting products.
