
RescueCopter
In the research project „RescueCopter“ a feasibility study is being conducted on the autonomous transport of medical equipment by means of an unmanned aerial vehicle for the initiation of first aid measures. A fast response time by qualified first aiders, the availability of emergency medical guidance (Telenotarzt, TNA), suitable aids (AED, Automatic Defibrillators) and emergency medication can be decisive for the actual rescue of a patient. Here, every minute often counts. The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) can generate valuable time potential at this point. The goal of the RescueCopter is to support rescue missions by transporting medical equipment with UAV to initiate life-saving measures by first responders under telemedical guidance of the tele-emergency physician. A prototypical implementation and testing of the RescueCopter within a simulated rescue mission will be conducted. Furthermore, the benefits and risks of integrating the UAV into the rescue chain and in the social context will be examined.
