Unmanned aerial systems are to be used to improve the transportation of medical goods between hospitals. The city of Aachen is cooperating with numerous project partners in the European innovation project SAFIR-Med - "Safe and Flexible Integration of Advanced U-Space Service for Medical Air Mobility". The project is part of the Urban Air Mobility Initiative of the MAHHL cities (Maastricht, Aachen, Hasselt, Heerlen and Liège) and aims to use unmanned aerial systems to transport medical goods between hospitals in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and thus support the healthcare system. The innovation project aims to research the conditions under which fast, safe and efficient emergency care can become a life-saving routine, even across national borders.
